"A Masterclass with the City's former Venue Design and Infrastructure Coordinator for GC2018 - Scott Krueger

Scott will take participants through the original GC2018 City managed venue bid concepts and the process that delivered the permanent venues approximately 12 months out from the event.  These include the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, Coomera Indoor Sports Centre and Gold Coast Hockey Centre.  Participants will explore the City's passion for the best legacy outcome possible, for both residents and visitors alike.

Title: ‘Getting people Active and Healthy'.  Public/Private partnerships in physical activity.

Presenter/s: Samantha Hughes, Senior Active and Healthy Officer, City of Gold Coast and James Silvers, President, Active and Healthy Alliance and Manager QLD Fitness First

A partnership group, The Active & Healthy Alliance Gold Coast was formed in 2004 and incorporated in 2014.  The Alliance is a coalition of stakeholders dedicated to the advancement of physical activity and healthy eating initiatives on the Gold Coast. The Alliance acknowledges that collective use of scarce resources; both financial and human are more effective than operating in isolation and provides an integrated approach to physical activity investment to ensure sustainability of initiatives.  Emphasis is placed on developing collaborative and integrated initiatives and communication tools with the Alliance using a private and community partnership model to deliver associated programs and events at a nominal budget. 

This masterclass will include various partners involved in the Alliance (commercial partners, not for profits and government agencies) and detail the adopted strategies which have enabled the Alliance to lead the way to creating an active and healthy community."
