WCO Data Model Training Workshop in conjunction with the 2013 WCO IT Conference & Exhibition

2 Day WCO Data Model Workshop - 12 - 13 May 2013

The WCO is organizing a two-days workshop on all technical aspects of the WCO Data Model Version 3, its practical applications and the benefits it can provide in reducing the costs for declaring goods to customs and other regulatory authorities. This highly interactive forum will be run by the most proficient experts available at the WCO Secretariat and accredited experts from leading Customs administrations and the private sector. The practical applications shall include exercises in data harmonization, the de-materialization of supporting documents, data mapping and guidance in the policy and technical aspects of the international trade single window.

The Data Model Workshop has become an established lead-in to the main IT Conference and Exhibition over the years and 2013 is no exception.
 

Private sector companies will receive special attention thanks to specialized expert trainers who will support them in their particular challenges.

 
Each participant receives a one-year subscription to the WCO Data Model from GMD (worth 900 EUR).

We hope to see you at this important training event in a subject of increasing importance as Trade and Customs move towards supply chain collaboration and the greater use of standards. 
 
     
   Objectives
 
   The main objective is to provide participants with a comprehensive background to:

    1- Understand how it relates to other WCO instruments

  • The strategic context of the WCO Data Model 

2- Understand how it relates to other global standards

  • Its history and evolution from 1996 to today
  • The data and message structures (EDI and xml)
  • Business process and information modelling
  • Data harmonization and an introduction to the Single Window

Participants' Profile

This course is designed for importers, exporters, carriers, freight forwarders, logistics service providers, customs brokers, clearing agents, port/airport community systems providers and others involved in global trade or in the provision of global trade related software solutions or consultancy.

Pre-requisites to profit fully from this training programme:

  • Knowledge / experience in international trade
  • A basic understanding of the border clearance processes and documentary requirements from the private sector perspective
  • A basic understanding of electronic data exchange
  • A basic understanding of business process and data modelling
 

 

The two-day classroom session will focus on presentations, interactive discussions and practical case studies.

A hands-on approach to the WCO Data Model will familiarise you with the use of the tool, it’s business benefits and utility for the Trade sector.

These expert-led sessions will equip you with the skills needed in today’s demanding business environment.
