  • Raise the profile of your research internationally by having it published in high-ranking journal Rheumatology.
  • Champion the success of your unit or team.
  • Gain recognition from experts in the field by having your research peer reviewed.
The deadline for abstract submissions has now passed, applicants will be contacted in December. 



Application guidelines, for reference only.  Please note that the submission deadline has now passed. 
  • There is a 450 word limit for the text of your abstract submission.
  • The abstract should be structured into the following sections: 
    a. Title (clearly indicating the nature of the investigation) 
    b. Background 
    c. Methods 
    d. Results 
    e. Conclusions
  • Abstracts can be saved in "Draft" status to be finalised later, up until the submission deadline
  • Only fully completed abstracts will be considered for the conference
  • Submitted abstracts can be reedited and modified until the submission deadline
  • By submitting an abstract, the presenting author commits to presenting the abstract (if accepted) orally or as a poster in the session and the time assigned by the Heberden Committee. We therefore ask that authors of accepted abstracts register for the conference by 31 January 2014
Instructions for abstract presentations
  • If an abstract is selected for oral presentation, the presenting author will be requested to present it in the assigned session. Details will be communicated to the author by the end of December 2013.

  • If an abstract is accepted as a poster presentation, the presenting author must be at their poster during the corresponding poster viewing session.

  • If an abstract is accepted as a poster presentation, it may additionally be included as part of a poster tour for a two minute presentation and discussion during the corresponding poster tour session.

  • Posters will be set up within the exhibition hall

  • The posters need to be printed landscape. The surface of the display panels measures 100 cm (height) x 200 cm (width); adhesive material will be provided.
  • Please use letters large enough to be read from a distance
