My first experience of hydropower was as a young boy. Our family often went on walks which ‘incidentally’ passed an old water wheel, disused leat or half buried turbine. Growing older I became useful manually clearing intake screens before moving away and working in other areas. I now manage the maintenance of Derwent Hydro’s nine generation sites and have worked as project manager for the construction of Gerlan Hydro’s Caseg and Llafar hydro stations.
